Why it matters
The bigger picture
Inequalities in income, opportunity, and representation weaken social cohesion. The participation of vulnerable groups in decision-making and the social integration of migrants and refugees are central to this goal.
Ensuring the bottom 40 percent of the population experiences income growth faster than the national average is one of the concrete measures of reducing inequality.
The 2030 Agenda does not treat Reduced Inequalities in isolation from the other sixteen goals. Progress depends on inclusive policies, reliable data, long-term investment, and cooperation between public institutions, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Connecting local action to measurable outcomes is therefore essential for turning the global framework into lasting change.
