Responsible Consumption and Production

Why it matters

The bigger picture

Inefficient use of resources threatens both environmental and economic sustainability. Conscious consumption habits and waste reduction represent a transformation that starts individually but has global impact.

Companies and public institutions adopting sustainable procurement and production practices accelerates systemic change.

The 2030 Agenda does not treat Responsible Consumption and Production in isolation from the other sixteen goals. Progress depends on inclusive policies, reliable data, long-term investment, and cooperation between public institutions, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Connecting local action to measurable outcomes is therefore essential for turning the global framework into lasting change.
