Why it matters
The bigger picture
Access to clean water is essential for public health and ecosystem balance. Climate change and population growth increase pressure on water resources.
Conscious consumption, local water management, and transboundary cooperation are essential tools for reducing the risk of water scarcity.
The 2030 Agenda does not treat Clean Water and Sanitation in isolation from the other sixteen goals. Progress depends on inclusive policies, reliable data, long-term investment, and cooperation between public institutions, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Connecting local action to measurable outcomes is therefore essential for turning the global framework into lasting change.

Goal 06 is made up of 8 official UN targets in total. Below are the ones most directly related to our work.

By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
- 6.2
By 2030, achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all.
- 6.3
By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution and increasing recycling and safe reuse.
- 6.4
By 2030, substantially increase water-use efficiency and reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity.
- 6.5
By 2030, implement integrated water resources management, including through transboundary cooperation.
- 6.6
By 2020, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers and aquifers.
