Gender Equality

Why it matters

The bigger picture

Gender equality is a fundamental condition for a fair and sustainable society. Equal participation of women and girls in decision-making, education, and the workforce directly accelerates social development.

Preventing harmful traditional practices and violence is a precondition for women's equal participation in economic and political life.

The 2030 Agenda does not treat Gender Equality in isolation from the other sixteen goals. Progress depends on inclusive policies, reliable data, long-term investment, and cooperation between public institutions, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Connecting local action to measurable outcomes is therefore essential for turning the global framework into lasting change.
